Father Gifts Son $1M Winning Lottery Ticket as Wedding Gift

In a heartwarming twist, a father from Prince William County, Virginia, found a unique way to celebrate his son’s wedding—and reclaim his basement—by giving him a winning lottery ticket worth $1 million.

Aaron Andrews and his wife, who tied the knot in April, had been living in his father’s basement since their marriage. But the couple’s plans for the future took an unexpected turn when Aaron’s father, an avid lottery player, purchased a ticket for the Cash4Life® lottery. He bought the ticket from PJ’s Neighborhood Variety Store on Fuller Heights Road in Triangle and matched the first five numbers, earning the choice between receiving $1,000 a week for life or a one-time payment of $1 million.

Seeing this as a perfect opportunity, Aaron’s father decided to gift the winning ticket to his son as a wedding present. With the help of a financial advisor, Aaron opted for the $1 million cash payout.

“This was the best way to get him out of my basement,” his father quipped, adding a touch of humor to the situation.

Aaron expressed his gratitude to Virginia Lottery officials, saying, “I have a great father who has done nothing but look out for me!”

The newlyweds have big plans for their unexpected windfall. They intend to buy a new home, assist Aaron’s grandmother, and start college funds for their future children.

The winning numbers for the August 3rd drawing were 25-35-36-41-59, with a Cash Ball number of 2.

This generous gesture not only secured Aaron and his wife a bright future but also provided his father with a little extra space at home—a win-win situation for everyone involved.
